TransVac Solutions Installs Country’s First Auto Unloading Station

Pneumatic Tube System Station Improves Infection Control at St. Anthony’s Hospital, Oklahoma

Denver, CO, September 8, 2011, TransVac Solutions, the leader in pneumatic transport solutions for healthcare facilities, announced today that they have successfully installed the country’s first auto unloading station improving efficiency and infection control at St. Anthony’s hospital in Oklahoma City.

Typically, lab staff is required to handle a PTube carrier when it arrives at the lab. Now, with TransVac NxTUBE auto unloading station, lab staff can receive samples without ever touching a carrier. TransVac NxTUBE auto unloading stations reduce previously performed manual steps and carrier handling time. By minimizing staff contact time with the carriers, this technology improves infection control. The NxTUBE delivers and automatically unloads samples with soft ejection. The carrier is no longer handled at the lab so cross contamination is kept to a minimum.

In addition to the auto unloading station, TransVac Solutions installed and upgraded 28 stations with RFID microchip technology at St. Anthony’s.  RFID assists in utilizing the auto unloading functionality and system-wide carrier tracking and management.  Carriers are shuttled to the lab where samples are delivered.  Then, the carrier is automatically returned to the sending station without staff intervention in less than three minutes.
